When a disabled girl falls behind and doesn’t have a prom date, her father surprises her by taking her to the event. The reward he receives the following day as a token of appreciation for his love for his child changes their lives.
“Look, Molly!” Someone from the funeral informed the 17-year-old girl who was sobbing by her mother Daisy’s coffin, “Your dad is here!”
Molly’s mother and her father, Danny, had separated eleven years prior. Molly has only heard awful things about her father ever since, such as that he was a “drunkard.”
Molly didn’t have resentment toward Danny, but she frequently missed their relationship as father and daughter. However, Molly’s situation was about to alter following her mother’s death.
“Hey, sweetheart!” Danny put a wreath on his ex-wife’s coffin after greeting and hugging his daughter.
“Is that your pickup, sir? It blocks half of the parking. Would you mind relocating it?” A visitor questioned Danny, a truck driver.
“That’s my truck, yes. Give me a moment. I recently got to know my daughter. I hope you get it. I’m grateful.”
When Danny first met Molly, he was thrilled. The child support he paid for her was the only connection he had with her throughout the years. Daisy was afraid he might turn into a negative influence, so she never let him see Molly.
After the funeral, everyone departed. After packing all of Molly’s belongings, Danny informed her that they were heading to his place.
“A parcel? Who sent it?” he wondered. A card on it read: “For Dad of the Year”
“But why, father? I’m unable to leave the house. I lived here with Mom. It’s loaded with our recollections.”
