Even celebrities can get star struck by Shania Twain, it seems!
Machine Gun Kelly took the stage at the People’s County Choice Awards on Sept. 26 just ahead of the end of the two-hour long show to perform his hit with Jelly Roll, “Lonely Road.” The song is a reimagining of the classic John Denver hit, “Country Roads, Take Me Home.”
Following the performance, Twain, who was hosting the show, walked out to wrap things up. She gave Machine Gun Kelly a hug.
“That was awesome! I just love you,” she said, hugging the artist. Machine Gun Kelly replied, “Love you back!”
She went on to say that the song was one of her all-time favorites, not clarifying whether she was referring to Machine Gun Kelly and Jelly Roll’s take or the classic hit.
Machine Gun Kelly started to walk away as Twain turned her attention to the camera to end the show — but then he rushed back over.
Twain looked confused as he returned, asking him, “Are you going to sing with me?”
Instead, he leaned over and spoke into her microphone.
“When I was growing up, your face was always in my dad’s car, that album cover — it was always there,” he said.
The moment was a surprise to Twain, who then suggested, “Stay with me while I stand here and say goodnight to everyone.”
After saying goodnight, Twain turned to MGK to hug him again as the credits rolled.
Viewers had quite the reaction to MGK’s sweet moment with the country superstar.
“The way he just had to go back and shoot his shot with THE @ShaniaTwain and tell her how her face was always on his dad’s car dashboard,” one person tweeted.
“MGK AND SHANIA TWAIN OH MY HEART,” another wrote on X.
“Kells being star struck by Shania Twain has me emotional,” one person wrote.
One other person added, “Shania was my first concert ever and mgk and her together is just adorable.”
