“Holy moly, she’s (unfortunately) had a lot of work done. Makes celebrities look older than they actually are,” reacted a critic, while an Instagrammer stated“That does not look like Carrie Underwood. 😮.” A disappointed viewer also opined“One more beautiful girl ruining their looks with fillers and Botox. Her face is frozen. What a shame she didn’t just age gracefully. It hurts to look at her now.”

In the video that sparked discussions, Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and Ryan Seacrest welcomed Underwood. The country musician joked, “It’s like I’m new and I’m old at the same time.” She said her return to the show had been great so far, and they’d only just started.

Seacrest recalled meeting Underwood when she was a contestant and the winner of the 2005 season of “American Idol.” The show’s host said he knew back then that the singer would become a big success.

Richie appreciated having Underwood back because they didn’t have to coach her on anything since she knew her way around. He felt she understood and related to the contestants better than they did because she’d been in their shoes before.

Underwood confirmed this, saying, “I know what they’re going through.” Adding his outlook, Bryan joked that having her return on the show as a judge made him worry that he might be on the chopping block, but his colleagues hilariously assured him he was safe.

In 2018, Carrie Underwood opened up about an accident that altered her appearance, revealing on Ellen DeGeneres’ show that she required 40 to 50 stitches. DeGeneres praised her beauty, regardless.

The vocalist shared that she injured herself after tripping and falling down the stairs outside her home in 2017. Although her teeth weren’t knocked out, a few bottom ones were slightly chipped, but the procedure to fix them wasn’t extensive.

The star managed to call someone to take her to the hospital and watch over her sleeping son. While DeGeneres didn’t think the musician looked different, Underwood responded, “I feel like I do a little bit.”

Underwood only went public about the incident in January 2018 to avoid speculation when people saw her.

Later that year, the country star was asked if having a facial injury affected her confidence. The season 4 “American Idol” winner confessed that, initially, she worried about how she would look.

But now, she said, it’s more about perception because, “I see it quite a bit, but other people are like, ‘I wouldn’t have even noticed.'” She found comfort in learning that nobody looks at or notices you as much as you think.

Underwood also addressed plastic surgery rumors. According to her, she tried not to worry too much about the speculation. Her mother would ask if she saw what the tabloids were saying about her, and she would respond, “Mama, I don’t care. I’m just trying to raise my son and live my life.”

However, she also admitted. “I wish I’d gotten some awesome plastic surgery to make this [scar] look better.”
