Sadly, our school system often fails to encourage students’ imagination or give chances for creative thought.
The story below, meant for fun, really shows important traits that should shape education: curiosity, creativity and a bit of humor…
A first grader named Johnny wasn’t paying attention in class so his teacher asked him what was wrong.
The boy said: “I’m too smart for first grade. My sister who is in third grade is not as smart as me. I think I belong in a higher class.”
The teacher then took Johnny to the principal’s office.
While Johnny waited outside in the hall, the teacher explained the situation to the principal.
“The boy will take a test,” said the headmaster to the instructor “and if he doesn’t do well he’ll go back to first grade for proper behavior.”

Johnny agreed to take part in the test after being brought inside and told about it.
“What is three plus three?” you ask him.
Johnny: “Six”
The teacher asked again “What is six times six?”
Johnny: “Thirty-six”
He was tested on everything that principal thought a third-grader should know.
After looking at his teacher briefly ,the principal announced “I believe Johnny can move up to third grade.”
“Can I ask him some questions?” requested the teacher.
“What does a cow have four of and I only have two?”
After thinking for a moment ,Johnny answered “Legs.”
“What do you have in your pants that I don’t?” continued his instructor.
The teacher’s eyes got wide but Johnny replied “Pockets.”
“What does a dog do when someone steps on it?” asked again .
Johnny: “Yelp”
“What has letters F and K in it and means great excitement,” questioned his instructor .
Johnny: “A fire truck.”
“Put Johnny into fifth grade,” told the principal,< strong > “I missed those last four questions myself.”
