After her husband passed away, Kathie Lee Gifford decided to move to the countryside to enjoy a more peaceful life. She wanted a fresh start and found comfort in her charming new home, a place where she finally feels at ease after experiencing deep loneliness in her old home.
The retired TV host, known for her years on the “Today” show with Hoda Kotb, made a big change by moving to Nashville, Tennessee. Since arriving in Music City, Kathie Lee has shared glimpses of her new life with fans, including a recent accident at her home that sent her to the hospital.
After her husband passed away, Kathie Lee Gifford began a new chapter by moving to Nashville. She left behind her Connecticut home and her career on the “Today” show. The move marked a fresh start after years in the house she shared with her late husband, Frank Gifford.
Frank, a former NFL player, passed away in 2015, by which time their children, Cassie and Cody, had already moved out. With her husband gone and her “Today” show career over after 11 years, Kathie Lee started her new journey by buying a $3.7 million brownstone in Franklin, Tennessee, through her production company, Widow’s Peak Pictures.
Kathie Lee shared that her work and creativity needed a new place. “The work I want to do isn’t here anymore. I’m an artist, an actress, a writer, a songwriter, a director now. That’s what feeds my soul,” she explained.
In Nashville, she found a supportive community and described the area as having a “culture of kindness” on a 2019 “Today” appearance. Looking back, she recalled how her Connecticut home, once filled with family life, became a place of loneliness after her husband’s death. “It went from being joyful, full of kid sounds and dog sounds, to feeling like a mortuary,” she said, adding that she felt she needed a change.
Since moving, Kathie Lee enjoys hosting family visits. In late 2019, she posted a photo of her children, Cassie and Cody, with their partners, sharing a special family moment in her Tennessee home. She wrote, “So fun finally having my kids and their loves home for a Nashville visit.” Kathie Lee’s new home also welcomes friends, though one visit took an unexpected turn in July 2024.
Recovering from hip surgery, she rushed down the stairs to greet a friend in the heat. She tripped and later described the painful injury: “I am back in the hospital with a fractured pelvis. It’s more painful than anything I went through with the hip.”
After her recovery, Kathie Lee shared more glimpses of her 7,965-square-foot home, which has many bedrooms, bathrooms, and high ceilings. Her kitchen has a warm, rustic style with brick backsplashes, a metal range hood, and hanging copper pots. Granite countertops with earthy tones add to its cozy look, and a grand piano brings charm to the open space.
Her dining room has a round, glass-top table with wooden details. Light-upholstered chairs and large windows with garden views make the room feel open and welcoming.
Kathie Lee’s living room has a beige sofa with large cushions and a wooden table with a small lamp and decorative vase. Another part of the room has a white armchair by a large wooden door, light paneling, and hardwood flooring, with small framed photos and books adding cozy touches.
In her bedroom, a neatly made bed with a light quilt and layered pillows sits against a rustic headboard. A cushioned bench with studded trim is at the bed’s foot, and a wooden nightstand with a soft lamp adds to the room’s peaceful feel.
Her bathroom includes a white double vanity with silver hardware, a large mirror, and soft lighting. The tile floor has a light, natural tone, complementing the vanity’s style.
Kathie Lee’s home also has an office for her awards, and her outdoor patio is perfect for time with her dogs. Surrounded by flowers and tall trees, the patio has a gravel path bordered by a stone wall and blooming white hydrangeas in the yard.
Kathie Lee’s move to Nashville brought her peace, creativity, and a renewed sense of purpose, surrounded by family, friends, and her comfortable home.
With each glimpse she shares, Kathie Lee inspires her followers to embrace new life chapters and find happiness in simple moments.
