President Joe Biden expressed deep sorrow, calling Carter an “extraordinary leader, statesman, and humanitarian.” He praised the late former U.S. leader’s work to “eradicate disease, forge peace, advance civil rights and human rights,” and provide homes for the homeless.

Biden emphasized Carter’s moral clarity and the love he shared with his wife, Rosalynn Carter, describing their relationship as “the definition of partnership” and their leadership as “the definition of patriotism.”

Former President Donald Trump offered his condolences, acknowledging Carter’s efforts during challenging times. He noted, “The challenges Jimmy faced as President came at a pivotal time for our country, and he did everything in his power to improve the lives of all Americans.”
