First Case Of New Mpox Variant, Clade Ib, Reported In France

France reports its first case of new Mpox variant, Clade Ib. Reports say patient came in contact with two people with travel history from Central Africa.

The new variant of Mpox called, Clade Ib has been circulating among many countries outside of Africa as well. As pre recent news reports, France has also identified its first case of new mpox variant, Clade Ib. With this, France becomes the 11th nation outside of Africa to record an infection pertaining to the new variant. The patient was reportedly diagnosed in the northwestern region of Brittany at a hospital in Rennes. The woman who tested positive does not have any history of travel to any of the Central African countries. However, reports say that she was in contact with two people who had returned from that region. Health authorities are investigating the source of the infection and are working to trace all potential contacts, reports French media.
